Timothy Craft

My path to coaching runs through anthropology, community organizing, and activism before landing in the operational infrastructure of a research institute. I have been a student pushing for change from the margins, a community advocate pressing against institutional inertia, and now a staff leader building the systems that make research and care possible at scale. That full arc gives me something most coaches cannot offer: I have stood on every side of a university, and I understand what it actually costs to hold your values inside institutions that were not built with you in mind.

I am a Certified Leadership and Resilience Coach and graduate of Tulane University’s Anti-Racism Leadership Program, currently serving as Assistant Director of Operations at Tulane’s Violence Prevention Institute. In my coaching work, I partner with emerging and mid-career professionals navigating institutional complexity, identity, and growth in equity-focused environments.

I coach mission-driven professionals to distinguish systemic constraint from personal agency, and to move forward with clarity and purpose when institutional complexity and identity are pulling in opposite directions.

My coaching draws on anti-racist and inclusive frameworks, balancing reflective inquiry with actionable problem-solving adapted to each person. Two things surface consistently in what clients describe: my transparency about the coaching process itself, and my ability to separate what belongs to the institution from what actually belongs to the person in front of me. I do some of my most meaningful work with LGBTQ+, queer, trans, and neurodiverse clients, bringing a practice built to hold those experiences rather than accommodate them as exceptions.

That distinction between systemic constraint and personal agency is often where the real work begins. I spent years navigating institutions as an outsider before becoming an insider, and that experience shapes every conversation. I know what it feels like to fight for a seat at the table, and I know what it costs to hold your ground once you’re there.
