Danette Saylor

Dr. Danette Saylor presently serves as the inaugural Director of the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at Tulane University.  She is an experienced manager and administrator with over 25 years of experience in higher education and is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive campus community. She earned her BS in psychology and M.Ed. in counselor education from Florida A & M University, and her Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Counseling from Florida State University. Dr. Saylor’s career in higher education has extensively been spent serving persons with disabilities and underserved students of color. She has a diversity of experiences in both academic and student affairs at various institutions. These experiences include Vice President for Student Affairs, Assistant Vice-President for Student Success and Dean of Students, Director of Student Affairs and Assistant Professor/Undergraduate Program Director.

Dr. Saylor is also very passionate about leadership development and empowerment initiatives for women, specifically Black women. She is the Founder of The SHERO Group, Inc., a 501C3, non-profit organization that exists to promote the success of women of color in all fields of endeavor through professional consultation, coaching, mentoring, leadership development, and educational training. She has previously served on the Board of Directors for the Oasis Center for Women and Girls, the Tallahassee/Leon County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls- Sexual Assault Policy Group, and the NASPA Center for Women Advisory Board. She is currently on the National Advisory Board of the Faculty Women of Color in the Academy, on the National Advisory Council of the National Conference on Race in Education.
