Biography

Joseph Mistrot serves as Assistant Dean for Administration and Special Projects in the School of Liberal Arts working closely with the dean to advance the school’s strategy and the dean’s initiatives. 

Prior to working at Tulane, he served as Executive Assistant to a commercial real estate developer and philanthropist for 9 years.  A native of Louisiana, he has lived in New Orleans for over 20 years.  Being an avid Francophile, he volunteers his time with L’Union Française to promote French language and Francophone cultures by serving on the organization’s Board of Directors since 2018, including in the role of president of the organization in 2021 and 2022, and in the role of vice-president in 2020 and 2023.   

His favorite holiday is Mardi Gras, so he was honored to serve as king in the Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc’s parade in 2022.

He attended LSU, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with a minor in English, and is currently finishing a Master of Liberal Arts Degree focused on Francophone Studies at Tulane.
