Biography

Alicia Jasmin, a New Orleans native, boasts a rich background in higher education, marketing, strategic communications, and community relations.

From 2007-2019, she made impactful contributions to Tulane University's Office of Marketing and Communications, shaping the university's brand and driving positive messaging. As Assistant Director for News, she safeguarded the university's reputation through daily management of external news.

Her journey also led her to the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she orchestrated community relations efforts, fostering connections between the center and the community. Alicia's journalistic roots garnered recognition as a news reporter covering the government beat in Texas and Louisiana, earning accolades from the Louisiana Press Association and the Public Relations Society of America.

A champion of diversity and inclusion, Alicia served on the MD Anderson Diversity Council, advising the hospital president on equity matters. Likewise, at Tulane, she serves as an EDI Officer and has extensively researched the university's desegregation history and documented its strides in becoming a more diverse institution.

Alicia holds a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of New Orleans and a Bachelor’s in Mass Communication from Louisiana State University. She also imparted her expertise as an adjunct professor in Tulane's Department of Communication from 2010-2018, educating countless undergraduates in News Writing and Interpersonal Communication.
